What does the nomenclature THW-LS mean?

Have you ever wondered what the nomenclature THW-LS, THW, THWN, EPR or XLPE means? This nomenclature is engraved on all electrical conductors which have a layer of insulation. This nomenclature helps us to identify the type of insulation of our cable.

In practice, cable manufacturers use abbreviations which indicate the properties and type of material of the insulation of our conductor.

Here we show you the meaning of each of these acronyms, for example for cables marked as THW, THHW, THWN, THHWN, THWLS, THHWLS

-T (Thermoplastic): Thermoplastic insulation

-H (heat resistant): Heat resistant up to 75ºC

-HH (heat resistant): Heat resistant up to 90ºC

-W (water resistant): Water and moisture resistant

-LS (low smoke): Low emission of smoke and polluting gases in case of ignition.

-N (nylon): Nylon cover, which resists abrasion, oil and chemicals.

For example, if a cable says THWN this means that it has thermoplastic insulation, heat resistant, water resistant, moisture resistant and has an outer nylon film.

There is also thermostable insulation, which can be divided in this way:

Thermoplastic:

-PVC: polyvinyl chloride

-PE: Polyethylene

Thermostable:

-XLPE: Cross-linked polyethylene

-EPR: Ethylene-propylene

2. Characteristics

The copper conductors type THW are used for power and lighting circuits in industrial, commercial and residential facilities where it is required of more security, just as it is specified in the National Electrical Code. This type of conductor can be used in dry and wet places; its maximum temperature of operation is of 75 ºC and its voltage of service for all the applications it is 600 V.

Our factory was established in 2017,located in Qingdao,China, specializing in manufacturing and selling full series of wires and cables, such as: rubber sheathed flexible cable, sheathed cable, control cable, power cable, aerial insulated cable, aluminum stranded wires and steel core aluminum stranded wires, PVC insulated non-sheathed (soft) wire and cable, special cable. Our annual production capacity can reach 150 million US Dollars. Our products comply with national or international standards, widely used in electric power, coal, transportation, construction, petroleum, chemical industry, metallurgy, aviation, railway and other industries. Q3: What does your company do regarding Quality Control?

Thirdly, Quality Control Department is specially responsible for quality checking in each process and final check before shipping to our customers.

Q4: I didn't find my needed model in this page. Do you provide OEM Project Service?
 

Surely , our factory could manufacturing more than10000 models, OEM & ODM order is warmly welcome and we can you put your brand name, (logo) on these products. What's more, our R&D team will give you professional suggestions.

Q5: How could I get the Sample?

We are honored to offer you samples if we have it in stock, usually it is not free , but we will return it to your on first time mass order .but you need to pay the freight. If you have a courier account or forwarder in China, we can send it your courier to collect samples.

Q6: How long is the Delivery Time?

For Sample: 1-3 working days ; For small orders: 3-10 working days; For mass orders: 10-18 working days. It is better to communicate with us if you are interested to place an order. It depends on your order quantity.

Q7: What are your payment terms?

Our payment term is usually T/T 30% in advanced, the balance before picking up the goods or L/C at sight.

Q8: What is your Warranty? How about MOQ ?
